“Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob,
all the remnant of the people of Israel,
you whom I have upheld since your birth,
and have carried since you were born.
Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
“Listen to me.”
God does not often plead. But here, God is pleading with his children. He is pleading with us.
“Listen to me. I love you. Since before you were born. From the moment I held your days in my hand and carried you on the shoulders of my grace. From your infancy, through your teens, into the years that stretch further yet scatter quicker. Even to your old age and gray hairs, or no hairs, or dyed hairs I AM HE.
I AM HE who will sustain you,
who will carry you still
and I will rescue you always.
“Listen to me!”
Why is it so hard to listen to Love?
Lord, today I will listen.
