“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Why do you complain, Jacob?
Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord;
my cause is disregarded by my God”?
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Hemmed in. Giants at your back. Obstacles and worse in front. Nowhere to run… and God says, “Perfect. This is just where I want you… now be still, and soar.”
If I know that I belong to God, then there is no other viable options: I have to be still and know … know whom I have believed. Believe in whom I trust. Rest in the fact that:
a) He loves me.
b) He knows what he’s doing.
c) I don’t need to know the “big picture” of what’s going on… because ultimately He is the big picture.
And honestly, what do I have to lose? Rather, I have everything to gain because the God of the universe – the God of MY universe – knows me, loves me, guides me.
When I rise to meet him, past the cares of this world, past the mud that can threaten to pull me down, past the fears that nip at my toes.
When I lift my head and lock eyes with my freedom giver.
When I see the love in His eyes…
That’s when I lock my wings in the strength of stillness
… and soar.
Without worry. Without scripted direction. Without care… my future secure in His hands.
He is the Wind Shifter
the Way Bender
the Truth Flyer
The One who loved me from the start
The One who set me free
I set my heart on Him
and He sets my course
I lock my wings on Him
and let His wind blows wherever it pleases
I choose to set my heart on the One who created it.
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. (John 20)
Jesus, I don’t want to maneuver your wind, I want to ride it. I want to lock eyes, set my heart… I want to soar with you.
